New Sunderland signing Asamoah Gyan has revealed that his favourite ever player is Eric Cantona.
The Ghanaian striker, who led the Ghana frontline at the recent World Cup, said current day African players inspire him but insists it is Cantona, and to a lesser extent Alan Shearer, who motivate him the most.
“Striker like (Samuel) Eto’o, (Dider) Drogba, (Emmanuel) Adebayor, (Frederic) Kanoute inspire me. I did a great job at the World Cup and everybody knows me now,” he said.
“I am a Manchester United fan. My favourite player was Eric Cantona. Even now, I watch his clips. He scored incredible goals, unexpected goals. You have to make the impossible possible. That makes you a good striker, like Alan Shearer. I also saw him and he’s another great striker who played in the English league.”
