In my opinion, Eric Cantona’s importance to Manchester United should not be measured solely by his exploits on the Old Trafford pitch, but also on the basis of his innate ability to inspire and the desire for experimentation he inspired on the training ground. This idea of freedom of expression was something he exploited to the full, both on and off the pitch. — Peter Schmeichel
